UFCmania.com has received the fighter payouts for UFC Fight Night 11 from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for the event held on September 19 at The Palms Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The big money winner? Luke Cummo. Good for him — put some of that scratch on the side for diapers for your soon-to-be child … you’re gonna need it.

Nate Diaz — The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season 5 winner — brought home the next highest purse with $30,000. And Thiago Alves banked $28,000 after a nine-month layoff from competition.

Exclusive: IFL to name Jay Larkin president

FiveOuncesOfPain.com has learned that the IFL plans to announce Jay Larkin as its new President and Chief Operating Officer.

Larkin was formerly the head of Showtime sports and had been working for the IFL in a consultant capacity in recent months.

His full-time hiring is being heralded as a major personnel acquisition for the company and it is believed he’ll be a major difference maker for the publicly-traded startup fight promotion.

IFL News: Lindland’s Portland Wolfpack to undergo changes

FiveOuncesOfPain.com has learned through unnamed sources that Matt Lindland has significant changes planned for his Portland Wolfpack IFL team in 2008.

First, there is a chance that Krzysztof Soszynski from the LA Anacondas could drop down from heavyweight and represent the Wolfpack next season as their light heavyweight representative.

The Anacondas are in a bit of turmoil after the IFL released their head coach, Shawn Tompkins, late last week. IFL commentator and ex-Anacondas coach Bas Rutten will be working with Anaconda fighters that are scheduled for the upcoming World Grand Prix in the interim but a long-term successor has not been named.

There has also been numerous rumblings about Lindland bringing in a new heavyweight to the team. Apparently he’s touted this heavyweight as someone who could be the top heavyweight in the IFL next season. It’s been confirmed to 5 Oz. that the fighter is Brazilian. There is a lot of speculation that the fighter in question is none other than former UFC competitor Fabiano Scherner.

In other IFL-related news, the Florida Boxing Commission has approved the use of a ring for MMA events going forward. The IFL had to receive special permission to use its ring for tonight’s finals between the Silverbacks and the Pitbulls and there was concern that only a cage would be allowed for future events. The approval by the commission sets the stage for the IFL to run more events in Florida next year (and possibly add a new Florida franchise?).

For live blogging of tonight’s finals, remember to check out Ben Fowlkes’ blog by clicking here. Tonight’s finals will also be airing this Monday night at 8 p.m. ET on MyNetworkTV affiliates around the country (yes, it will be a quick turnaround).

I also wanted to remind everyone to check out my interview with IFL lightweight fighter Shad Lierley over at MMAjunkie.com.

Where in the world is Fabricio Werdum?

I’m on the road right now so I apologize for the lack of updates. Then again, from what I can gather, there isn’t much to update.

I am in LA right now on business (there are going to be some major changes to 5 Oz. in the near future and that’s all I can say) and was able to catch the final two matches of UFN 11 (yes, the hotel I’m at had Spike TV!!!). Martin and Leben were trading bombs and I really thought it was just a matter of time until Martin put him away. But Leben’s chin is really good and the announcers were correct in pointing out that he was in the best shape he’s been in for quite some time. The ending caught me off guard a bit.

As for Kenny Florian, what can you say about the guy? He’s really built himself into a tremendous fighter. I think he deserves another shot at the lightweight title assuming B.J. Penn and Joe Stevenson fight for it at UFC 78 (assuming Sherk loses his appeal and is stripped). Florian should get winner.

One other thing I wanted to add, and I know it’s random, but we’re always asking about “What happened to this fighter?” or “What’s going on with this fighter?” One guy that has completey disappeared from the radar that nobody is talking about is Fabricio Werdum.

If I remember, the UFC sort of touted his signing. But after his snoozer of a match with Andrei Arlovski we haven’t heard a thing from him. Is he injured? Did he get his contract cut? Is he taking some time off?

If anyone knows of his whereabouts, please let me know in the comments area.

BTW, all systems are go for another edition of “Inside the Cage Radio” this weekend. Be ready!

UFC Quick Quote: Kenny Florian finishes Din Thomas at UFC Fight Night 11

Kenny Florian

“If the UFC calls … [UFC matchmaker] Joe Silva’s on the phone, tells you [that] you got a fight coming up, you better hope and pray it’s not Kenny Florian.”

– UFC lightweight contender Kenny Florian comments via Sherdog.com after his first round submission (rear naked choke) win over veteran Din Thomas last night in the UFC Fight Night 11 main event. “KenFlo” sunk in the fight-ending move after it appeared “Dinyero” blew out his left knew going for a takedown. This marks the third consecutive submission win for Florian since his loss to Sean Sherk for the vacant 155-pound title at UFC 64 in 2006.
