UFC 78 results coverage and LIVE fight commentary

UFC 78: “Validation” is set for Saturday, November 17 at 10 p.m. ET on pay-per-view (PPV) from The Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
It’s the first UFC show to hit the Garden State since then-UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski dropped Justin Eilers in round one during the main event at UFC 53: “Heavy Hitters” in 2005.
It’s also the first UFC show to take place in the newly constructed “Rock” that opened its doors just a few days ago. There’s been nothing but fantastic things said about the $375 million facility other than its less than stellar address.
Newark is not an ideal destination … especially when the sun goes down. Trust me, I worked there not too long ago just a couple of blocks south.
Scary.
It won’t stop us, however, from spinning through the turnstiles and enjoying a very solid card from top to bottom. Some people have issues with the main event — I’m not one of them.
I’m in it for the entire experience. And this card has what it takes to be sleeper.
Here is the complete UFC 78 Fight Card:
Main event:
205 lbs.: Rashad Evans (10-0-1) vs. Michael Bisping (14-0)
Main card (televised):
205 lbs.: Houston Alexander (8-1) vs. Thiago Silva (11-0)
185 lbs.: Dave Terrell (6-2) vs. Ed Herman (13-5)
170 lbs.: Karo Parisyan (17-4) vs. Ryo Chonan (14-7)
155 lbs.: Frank Edgar (7-0) vs. Spencer Fisher (20-3)
Under card (may not be broadcast):
170 lbs.: Thiago Alves (12-3) vs. Chris Lytle (24-14-5)
155 lbs.: Joe Lauzon (15-3) vs. Jason Reinhardt (18-0)
155 lbs.: Marcus Aurelio (14-5) vs. Luke Caudillo (12-8)
170 lbs.: Tamdan McCrory (8-0) vs. Akihiro Gono (27-12-1)
Even though I’ll be in attendance it won’t stop DrubySunshine and the entire crack UFCmania team from delivering top-notch blow-by-blow, round-by-round commentary throughout the PPV telecast that starts at 10.pm. ET.
Yes, the lunatics will be running the asylum. Fortunately, Jesse Holland will not be among them. I have the (dis)pleasure of catching all the action alongside him come fight night.
Yay.
Remember: We’ll also provide quick results of the undercard action sometime around 8:30 p.m. ET. I’m sure a few positive things will change in terms of our coverage between then and now — just want to get the word out while I had some rare downtime.
For those who refuse to purchase the PPV and for all those who purchase it and still hang out with us here at MMAmania.com I encourage you to definitely stop by the site.
The discussion is always lively and we share some good times. Be sure to stop in — even if it’s only for a minute.
That’s it for now.
Feel free to discuss the fight card, predictions and anything else MMA-related in the comments section below until our complete coverage of UFC 78 begins in a fortnight (That’s code for two weeks, fyi).
See you then.
