Roger Huerta defeats Clay Guida (and other results)

Wow, what a war between Roger Huerta and Clay Guida. I was hoping for a Clay Guida victory, and it looked like he almost had it a few times, but Huerta toughed it out and ended up connecting with a knee in round 3 that turned the tide completely in his favor. He was able to takedown Guida and secure a rear-naked choke to force a tapout from Guida.

Other fight results from The Ultimate Fighter finale show were:

Paul Georgieff was choked unconcious by Jonathan Goulet (RNC)
Roman Mitichyan defeated Dorian Price in only 23 seconds with an ankle lock
Matt Arroyo armbarred John Kolosci

Troy Mandaloniz vs. Richie Hightower - great fight! - This one was back and forth, Hightower is a tough SOB, but Mandaloniz got a KO victory in the last minute of the first round. On a sidenote, Jason Chambers from The History Channel’s Human Weapon was in Hightower’s corner.

Ben Saunders defeated Dan Barrera by unanimous decision, and Dan Barrera was boring as hell. All he did was takedown and lay on top of Saunders. On the other hand, Ben Saunders is a tough sumbitch.

George Sotiropoulos defeated Billy Miles via rear-naked choke.

Jon “War Machine” Koppenhaver and Jared Rollins fought a war. Those dudes shed a lot of blood and fought like hell. The fight was back and forth, they kicked each others asses. Just when it looked like “War Machine” was mounted and almost done, he managed to sweep Rollins and take mount, then proceeded to blast away at Rollins head until he knocked him out and the referee stepped in to stop the fight.

And of course, Mac Danzig defeated Tommy Speer to be declared to winner of this seasons The Ultimate Fighter series.

Tomorrow Night On Discovery Channel, LAST ONE STANDING

This show looks like it’s going to be phenomenal. I think it’s a bunch of dudes travelling to different continents to fight native tribes. The previews show stick fights, grappling, etc… I believe it might be considered “extreme sports” because some of it looks like it may not be full-on fighting, but some kind of sport involved. Like maybe Croquet, except you get to hit the guy in the face with the stick.

I didn’t write about last weeks “Human Weapon” but it was great also, an MMA episode where the big dude fought a fat Rico Rodriguez to a draw in his first MMA fight, and the smaller dude (Jason Chambers) submitted Conor Heun with an Eddie Bravo Twister, that was nice.

Human Weapon: Karate

Awesome. I really love this show. It’s like a mixture of two of my favorite things: History and people getting their asses kicked. Tonights show is about Karate! This is particularly awesome because like other people, Karate (Shotokan) was the martial art I grew up learning.

Anyway, hopefully tonight we’ll see host Bill Duff get his ass kicked by a black belt. He’s going to fight in a Kumite match. KUMITE! KUMITE! KUMITE!

Sure, Karate may not be the complete martial art right by itself, but there is no doubt about the deadly striking power of some Karate fighters, and every martial art has something that can be taken and applied to MMA and even street fights.

Actually, I think I’d like to become a samurai swordsmen. Legit like.

I’m not very good at reviewing stuff I guess, so I’ll just say that they cover a lot of the history of Karate, which makes complete sense considering it’s on The History Channel. Also, I’m watching it like 2 days late, recorded on VHS. Right now I’m about to fast forward through some commercials because it appears that some guy is going to get beaten with a 2×4 when they come back. I thought about that the other day, I think I’m going to start carrying a 2×4 with me everywhere I go, just to make people wonder WTF is wrong with me. Like whenever I get out of the car, I’ll get out and pull my big ass 2×4 out of the backseat and just walk inside Blockbuster or walk through the mall casually. You never know when you’ll need a 2×4.

Anyway, they didn’t beat him with a 2×4, but it was some kind of stick, looked more like 3×3″ or something, but of course it was long, part of why they were able to break it across homeboys stomach.

Also, there is not much cooler than watching an old dude punching his fists against a huge boulder. I seriously think I’m going to contact my old Shotokan sensei and start talking Karate again for a little while just for fun.

Back to the show, here comes the fight. It’s full contact, 1-3 minute round with a 1 minute overtime, no punches to the head. It’s actually a pretty cool fight so far, the big dude Bill Duff (host of the show) is gettin nailed with strikes, the black belt is kicking his ass, oops black belt went down and Bill Duff says “I sent his ass to the mat” but the black belt was immediately back up and landing vicious leg kicks and punches to the chest when Bill Duff lands an illegal punch to the jaw of the other guy. Gets a warning from the referee. The black belt comes back and nailes Duff in the left leg over and over, now we go to overtime. Fights over. They call it a draw but I say Bill Duff lost. Of course if punches to the head were allowed it would be a different fight. I’m going to bed now, I’ve been up all night.
