Castmates on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 6, George Sotiropoulos (8-2) and Roman Mitichyan (5-1), will meet in a welterweight bout at UFC Fight Night 13 on April 2 at the Broomfield Event Center in Broomfield, Colo.
The long-rumored clash has finally been confirmed on UFC.com.
Sotiropoulos was among the pre-show favorites; however, the Australian was derailed by Tommy “The Farmboy” Speer in the semifinals. He bounced back to submit Billy Miles via rear naked choke at TUF 6 Finale in the first stanza back in December 2007.
When TUF 6 wrapped, Sotiropoulos headed out to New York City to train with his coaches on the program, Matt Serra and Ray Longo, at Serra Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Mitichyan is the unforgettable character who broke his elbow on the first episode of the mixed martial arts reality series and had a conniption when he was told he could no longer compete. The UFC was impressed with his desire to fight inside the Octagon and invited him back to compete at the TUF 6 Finale.
He didn’t disappoint, submitting Dorian Price via heel hook in less than 25 seconds.
This latest news indicates that there will be 10 fights slated for the SpikeTV special, which is a budding trend and departure from the traditional nine-fight cards. It will be a prelim bout that takes a back seat to some other fantastic match ups.
It’s still a solid showdown between two fighters who really want to shine inside the Octagon.

With all the UFC 79 interim brouhaha overwhelming the news lately, let’s remember that The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 6 Finale is lined up for next Saturday, December 8 at 9 p.m. for FREE on SpikeTV.
Of course, MMAmania.com plans to provide coverage of the action LIVE from The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, on fight night of the main card action, as well as provide quick results of the prelim match ups.
Even though there is less than 14 days until showtime the rumored card isn’t even complete. That’s because TUF 6 is still airing and the winners have not been made public.
In the meantime, here is what we can expect:
- Clay Guida (22-8) vs. Roger Huerta (19-1)
- TUF 6 Finalist #1 vs. TUF 6 Finalist #2
- Jared Rollins (5-3) vs. John “War Machine” Koppenhaver (4-1)
- Troy “Rude Boy” Mandaloniz (2-1) vs. Richie Hightower (7-1)
- Roman Mitichyan (3-1) vs. Dorian Price (7-2)
- Paul Georgieff (5-1) vs. Jonathan Goulet (19-9)
There’s a solid line-up of fights thus far scheduled for the event. However, the main event between Guida and Huerta should be explosive. Really can’t wait to check out that lightweight showdown, which more than likely will have significant implications in the 155-pound title picture.
Be sure to stay tuned to MMAmania.com before, during and after the event for all the updates, LIVE coverage and recaps you can handle.
For now hit up the TUF 6 Finale archive or the fight card right here for more information.

With the semifinalists almost set for season six of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF), the UFC made four more bouts official for the TUF 6 Finale on December 8 from The Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Here are the welterweight match ups:
- Jared Rollins (5-3) vs. John “War Machine” Koppenhaver (4-1)
- Troy “Rude Boy” Mandaloniz (2-1) vs. Richie Hightower (7-1)
- Roman Mitichyan (3-1) vs. Dorian Price (7-2)
- Paul Georgieff (5-1) vs. Jonathan Goulet (19-9)
Interesting (and good) to see Mitichyan on the card — he was sent home on the first episode because of a broken elbow sustained during training. It made for some great television but it also revealed how badly he wanted a chance to compete inside the Octagon.
Now he’s got the opportunity to demonstrate his skills in front of a nationwide television audience on the SpikeTV special.
Surprised to see that Goulet is getting another bite at the UFC apple so soon after yet another loss his last time out against Dustin Hazelett at UFC Fight Night 11 back in September. The “Road Warrior” boasts an underwhelming record (2-3) within the eight-sided cage. He should be the favorite against the relatively inexperienced Georgieff (He got knocked out in the first round by “Rude Boy” in episode five).
For all the latest of TUF 6 and episode recaps check out our archive. There’s also the developing TUF 6 Finale fight card right here.
Remember, lightweights Roger Huerta and Clay Guida will clash during the main event of the evening, and the two remaining finalists will throwdown to see who becomes the next TUF champion. Stay tuned for more updates and fight announcements regarding this upcoming event.
